Dutch Lily Days Celebrate Onings’ 90th Anniversary

As Onings Holland celebrates its 90th Anniversary during Dutch Lily Days 2025 (3–6 June), the leading bulb exporter continues to shape the global lily conversation with its Lily League® initiative. By combining in-person and online engagement, the company is inviting industry professionals to vote for their favourite varieties, helping define the future of lilies in floriculture.

Onings Holland, now marking nine decades in ornamental horticulture, is using its milestone anniversary to reassert its influence on the international lily market. During Dutch Lily Days 2025, the Dutch bulb specialist is once again hosting a vibrant showcase of flowering lilies at its test greenhouse in Poeldijk.
The highlight of the four-day event is the Lily League® — an initiative designed to capture real-time insights into lily preferences across the supply chain. Industry professionals, from growers to exporters and florists, are invited to vote for their top varieties. The result is a ranked Lily League® Top 50, reflecting both current popularity and future potential.

“What lilies are available today — and which are ready for tomorrow?” is the question Onings is putting to the trade, and the voting process is open both onsite and online. The greenhouse display features hundreds of different lilies, but varieties not physically shown also have a chance to make the list, reinforcing the League’s broad and neutral character.
In addition to varietal selection, the exhibition gives special attention to sustainable growing methods aimed at future-proofing lily bulb production. For Onings, which exports to more than 50 countries and supplies bulbs of tulip, iris, gladiolus, hyacinth and amaryllis alongside lilies, it’s a moment to both celebrate legacy and spotlight innovation.
