During GreenTech Amsterdam 2025, Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD) welcomed hundreds of international guests. The platform for international collaboration hosted delegations from Egypt, the Gulf Region, Central Asia, India, and Southeast Asia with tailor-made programmes designed to strengthen relationships, explore new collaborations, and accelerate Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) worldwide.
As one of the partners in the Strategic Trade Fair Programme, initiated by Topsector Horticulture & Starting Materials and AVAG, DGD contributed to an extensive schedule that reinforced the Netherlands’ position as a global frontrunner in future-proof horticulture. These customised programmes, combined with the wider Strategic Trade Fair activities, created valuable momentum for bilateral dialogues and laid the foundation for long-term international cooperation.
Strengthening International Cooperation
Following a successful kick-off at the networking dinner at the World Horti Center, DGD guided delegations through a curated agenda that included GreenTech Amsterdam, expert sessions, company visits, and meetings with leading research and educational institutions. GreenTech’s international draw, as one of the AIPH-approved global trade exhibitions for the ornamental and protected horticulture sectors, provided the ideal setting for this collaborative exchange.
Highlights included:
- Egypt: A standout moment was the launch of the Partners for International Business (PIB) Programme for Horticulture and Water in Egypt, which was signed in the presence of the Egyptian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Mustafa Al-Sayyad. This initiative promotes climate-smart, water-efficient horticultural practices to support Egypt’s sustainable agriculture ambitions.
- Gulf Region: A key milestone was reached with the signing of agreements between the Ministries of Agriculture of the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia, attended by Jan-Kees Goet, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality (Netherlands), and H.E. Eng. Mansour Al Mushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture (Saudi Arabia). Dutch Greenhouse Delta also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi AgriFood Tech Alliance (SAFTA) and partners to advance sustainable, technology-based food systems in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
- India: The Indian delegation connected with Dutch innovators across the food value chain, gaining insights into how high-tech greenhouse systems can transform food production. Inspired by these exchanges, companies such as Sandhu Greens are positioning themselves within a premium niche for strawberries in India, focused on quality, flavour, safety, and sustainability. DGD encourages other trailblazers, such as Fresh2Day, to build on this momentum.
- Central Asia: Delegates from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan explored horticultural innovations and strategic partnerships, marking a significant step toward greater regional cooperation in high-tech agriculture.
- Southeast Asia: With the participation of Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture Dr Phung Duc Tien, Southeast Asia was prominently represented. A bilateral meeting between the Vietnamese Minister and the Saudi Vice Minister of MEWA highlighted a shared commitment to accelerating sustainable horticultural development through international collaboration.
Throughout the week, GreenTech’s 2025 theme—Passion for Horticulture—resonated in every exchange. For Dutch Greenhouse Delta, an Affiliate Member of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), this passion fuels its mission to forge strong, forward-looking partnerships worldwide.
