DE KWAKEL, Netherlands: €10,000 donation to  purchase digital x-ray software at Sher Hospital in Ziway, Ethiopia.

An appeal to support patients receiving care at Sher Hospital in Ziway, Ethiopia has received a generous boost at last week’s Trade Fair Aalsmeer. The hospital will use the money to purchase digital x-ray software. The donation is more than welcome as the materials for developing x-rays are very difficult or impossible to obtain in Ethiopia.

Thanks to the investment in this digital module, manual development is no longer necessary and the doctors are able to do their jobs faster and easier. The Sher hospital in Ziway, which serves as a local hospital, treats over 100,000 patients each year.

Dutch Flower Foundation is proud that the donation follows an earlier contribution of 50,000 US$ towards a completely new x-ray machine at the same hospital of Afriflora Sher in Ethiopia.

Supported by the management of Dutch Flower Group companies The Floral Connection and Van Dijk Flora, Dutch Flower Foundation has donated €10,000 towards this second investment at the hospital. DFG Group sees the donation as a great example of working together on a more sustainable supply chain, from the heart.

At the Trade Fair in Aalsmeer, Dutch Flower Foundation chairman Marcel Zandvliet presented Lulit Tadele Demissie, Director of Sher Ethiopia PLC with a symbolic cheque.

Afriflora Sher ranks as the world’s largest rose farm in Ethiopia. Spread across three locations, the  greenhouse complex spans an area of more than 500 hectares. Every day, 13,000 people work hard to grow the roses found in various supermarket chains in Europe.
