Dümmen Orange launches colour-changing Calibrachoa Rainbow series

The newly launched Calibrachoa Rainbow series by Dümmen Orange stands out for its colour-changing blooms.

Dümmen Orange touts its new Rainbow series as “a star attraction waiting in the wings for the new season’s POS.

The new series consists of four single colours: Blue, Yellow, Pink and Hot Pink. Depending on the temperature and light conditions, the flowers vary in shade, creating a unique play of colours for each plant.

The four varieties change colour again and again over the course of the summer. Depending on the outdoor conditions, Rainbow Blue can produce flowers in pale denim blue but also in strong purplish blue and countless inspiring shades in between. Rainbow Pink behaves in much the same way, presenting almost every flower colouration from pale pastel pink to dark, vibrant pink.

With Hot Pink and Yellow, the range of colours is even more diverse. Rainbow Hot Pink’s flowers range from pastel yellow to vivid pink, with patterns creating an impression of tie-dye art. Rainbow Yellow also displays its artistic colour patterns in diversity – sometimes yellowish-orange, then vibrant pink, often in wild colour combinations, sometimes more pastel, sometimes dazzlingly bright.

The Rainbow series expands the Dümmen Orange Calibrachoa range to six series with a total of more than 50 varieties.

The cultivation properties are particularly important for product managers compiling their product ranges. Keeping these similar across multiple series makes it much easier to incorporate speciality colours into production programs. As the features of the Rainbow series are similar to those of the popular Aloha Kona series, Rainbow is easy to produce and sell alongside the most popular standard colours, they say.

This day-neutral series’s compact, medium-strong growth habit ensures its reliable, effective production in 12–15 cm pots and hanging baskets.
