BEST-select welcome Lucas de Nolf as new Chairman

WAREGEM, Belgium: BEST-select, a consortium of 17 wholesale plant production nurseries from Flanders is pleased to welcome Lucas De Nolf as new Chairman.

Working closely with his brother Karel and sister Laura, Lucas De Nolf is the second generation of the family business started by his father, Willy. Back in 1985 Willy De Nolf started to produce container-grown nursery stock on 15 ha land. Situated over two locations in Waregem and Lochristi, the De Nolfs currently grow 30 ha of perennials, shrubs, conifers, climbers and trees and produce in excess of 1.6 million plants annually. The unheated greenhouse and polytunnel facilities cover 5 ha including propagation facilities.

Part of BEST-select’s mission is to introduce novel nursery stock products into the marketplace. In his role as BEST-select chairman De Nolf will focus on product innovation and an effective sales strategy for BEST-select members.

The BEST-select brand is comprised of distinctive plants that differentiate themselves by their outstanding garden performance. What’s more, BEST-select offers ILVO trialled and tested plants that are supplied with an attractive label with a picture and description. Hydrangea Pinky-Winky and Bobo rank among BEST-select’s best sellers and licensee fees generate funds for R&D.

De Nolf is particularly proud of BEST-select’s close collaboration with the government agency ILVO (the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research) which often results in revolutionary new plants that help increase the competitiveness of Flanders’plant nurseries in an increasingly global marketplace.

De Nolf stated that he will strive to promote the value of BEST-select products,  highlighting their importance in the greater garden center industry
