Beekenkamp Plants takes minority share in Schoneveld Breeding

MAASDIJK, Netherlands: Beekenkamp Plants has announced a minority investment in Dutch  grower Schoneveld Breeding, known for its breeding breakthroughs in cyclamen and primula.

As part of the agreement, the two companies will partner to exchange plant breeding knowledge and strengthen each other’s business.

Schoneveld Breeding will continue to operate independently with its existing headquarters in Wilp in the central eastern province of Gelderland, the Netherlands.

Both family businesses have a shared vision for growth and innovation.

Schoneveld Breeding breeds and sells seeds worldwide and will continue to supply all young plant growers. Beekenkamp Plants is a breeder of cutting raised ornamentals and a producer of starter plants from seed and cuttings.

Existing collaborations and parternships will continue. For customers, there are no changes in terms of access to genetics, technical and sales support.

Beekenkamp Plants B.V. is a family business in Maasdijk, the Netherlands and is part of the Beekenkamp Group. Beekenkamp Plants B.V. has 2 divisions. Beekenkamp Plants Vegetables B.V. produces starting material for the professional vegetable grower. Beekenkamp Plants B.V. Schoneveld Breeding B.V. is an innovative breeding company that can produce sustainably worldwide, develops flowering pot plants, markets starting material and makes market introductions in order to achieve a higher crop and market yield for all chain partners. The family business was founded in 1930 and moved to a new breeding location in Wilp, the Netherlands, last year.

Schoneveld Breeding B.V. produces and sells yearly around 200 million seeds of Cyclamen, Primula, Ranunculus and Campanula worldwide. In addition to breeding and sales, Schoneveld Breeding distinguishes themselves in the high degree of cultivation, marketing and sales support. Schoneveld breeding employs more than 300 people, including a team of specialists at the seed production location in Tanzania.
