ALEXANDRIA, USA: American Floral Endowment (AFE) turns 60 in 2021. Take a look at AFE’s 60th anniversary videos and discover how the organisation became the US leading charitable organisation for the floral industry supporting scientific reseach, education, scholarships, internships, and career developments.
As AFE celebrates 60 years it reflects on the past and looks into the future. In the first corporate video (3.45 minutes) industry leaders such as Augusto Solano, Doug Cole, Terril Nell, Ben Dobbe, Laura Shinall and Dr Marvin Miller join forces to explain how AFE helped making the industry bigger and better. Terril Nell for example, stresses how AFE’s market information and the care and handling information that has been funded and supported by AFE has “rewritten the way flowers can be handled today for better performance.”
Grower Doug Cole notes that AFE has played a pivotal role in helping growers adress critical plant health issues, while Ball’s Dr Marvin Miller says that over the past 60 years AFE has been ‘at the forefront of understanding industry change’.
In a second, 2.22 minute video, AFE reflects on the past year and the challenges brought by Covid-19. AFE says that 2020 will make it in the history books as a year of industry perseverance, coming together and demonstrating the Power of Flowers worldwide.
