AIPH board member Karen Tambayong  wins prestigious 2021 Silver Carnation Award

CATANIA, Italy: Karen Tambayong, AIPH board member, Green City pioneer and ambassador of Indonesia’s ornamental horticulture has been named one of the nine winners of the 2021 Silver Carnation Award. 

Set against a backdrop of applause, Karen Tambayong  took to the stage at the 16th century Palazzo Biscari in Catani on Saturday 27 November 2021 to accept the award from industry veteran and horticultural jouranlist Arturo Croci.

Now in its 47th year, the Silver Carnation Awards recognise excellence and innovation in the field of business management, floral art, journalism, public governance, art, entertainment and charity. Tambayong, awarded in the International Business Management category, was one of five to receive Silver Carnation  Honours.

The official report reads as follows, “Karen dedicates her life to advancing the agriculture and ornamental horticultural sector with education and networking. In her role as AIPH board member and as President of the Green City Group she has advocating for more and better urban green spaces in the world to improve health and well-being.”

In accepting the Prize Karen says, “I am humbled to receive the Silver Carnation Award by my friends and colleagues from Ital. That this award may inspire all of you to collaborate and stimulate green infrastructures in your countries and cities. I vividly recommend the Green City section of AIPH’s website which is a treasure trove of ideas, research findings and knowledge sharing.”

Other Silver Carnation winner include Salvatore Maniscalchi Cirrincione, Edoardo Leone, Elvira Amata, Pino Pace, ) Adriana Pannitteri, Coro Lirico Siciliano, bishop Antonino Raspanti, and Rosi Zuliani Sgaravatti. The latter is the chairman of Assoverde, Italy’s trade association of landscape professionals.
