MC – Kobie Brand
Kobie is the Deputy Secretary General of ICLEI (globally) and Regional Director of ICLEI in Africa. She has over two decades of experience in senior management and leadership roles in the field of urban sustainability and has a passion for greener, safer and more inclusive cities for a current and future urban population. She also directs ICLEI’s global work on biodiversity, nature, health and water and regularly represent our constituency of local and subnational governments at international platforms and in global advocacy processes such as the Rio Conventions and others.
Dr. Robert McDonald
Dr. Robert McDonald is Lead Scientist for Nature-Based Solutions and Lead Scientist for Europe at The Nature Conservancy. He researches the impact and dependencies of communities on the natural world, studying how nature can increase resilience in the face of climate change and improve human health and well-being. He holds a PhD in Ecology from Duke University and has published more than 100 scientific publications and two books. Prior to joining the Conservancy, he taught landscape ecology at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, helping architects and planners incorporate ecological principles into their projects
Hon. Saleh Maalim Alio
Hon. Saleh Maalim Alio is the Sub National Minister for Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Municipality Affairs for the County Government of Mandera-Kenya. In 2024, Mandera Municipality won the ‘Living Green for Climate Change’ category of the AIPH World Green City Awards for their Greening Programme. 200,000 trees were planted within the municipality as a result of the initiative.
